FROM THE BRIDGE
Hello
Navy Leaguers,
"WOW!" Our Navy league Council has had a busy and rewarding springtime!
We began with the "Great White Fleet" Ceremony on Armed forces Day May
17th, then the "Ski to Sea Parade" with our special guest, Pearl Harbor
Survivor CBM USN Ret. Ted King, riding in the lead car.
Our May dinner was another great one catered by "Cinco de Mayo"
restaurant and a good talk by our guest speaker, Mr. John Milezewski
from the local U S Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 11. The bus trip in
June to the Military Museum at Camp Murray, Fort Lewis, was a superb
trip with lots of historical military exhibits to view.
The BIGGEST NEWS of all, is that on June 26th I received a letter from
the National President of the Navy League of the United States, Mr. J.
Michael McGrath, announcing that our Council newsletter was selected as
the first place winner in our category for this year's "Donald M.
Mackie" Award. Vern Puckett deserves a real "Pat on the back" for all of
his efforts in getting our newsletter out to the public and our
membership. Great job Vern!
